My Art Can't Bear It

Repair
After leaving the bear head outside to dry from the primer, an animal attacked and shreded it. I thought it was a lost cause and ordered a new head then decided to glue the pieces back together. Ended up using the new head for the project but the repaired head served as a great test subject for paints and washes. It remains a proud part of my art studio, watching over the shenanigans.
Starting out
Initial concept for the bear, focusing more on 'armour' placement that would be built out of foam. Essential play time to get to know the material and also allow the concept to organically evolve into the final product.
Selfie with wings 2
Finished the initial construction of the wings. Another success that I had no idea how to start or accomplish. Allowed myself to start an idea and see where it took me. The wings ended up being exactly want I wanted, even though I had no idea how the would be constructed. Reminded me that I have to trust the process.
Bear head - wash and glazing tests
I had an idea of the vertigris I wanted on the bear...a good mix of copper patina with areas of rust showing through. I loved these tests even though I went with a more subtle approach with the final bear.
Bear splatter
Splatter from the reactive copper paint I used for my first undercoat of the bear.
Final Result
The unveiling of the final submission for the Art Bear. It stood outside of its assigned spot for several months to draw attention to the Black Bear Film Festival and was eventually auctioned off during the festival.
